Marie Stiefel, PresidentMarie Stiefel is an educator with experience in high schools, community college and four year college. A lifelong volunteer, she has worked with a number community organizations and served on the boards of Ransom Everglades School, the Lowe Art Museum Community Board of the University of Miami and Vero Beach Museum of Art Board of Trustees. She is the vice president of the Stiefel Family Foundation. She holds an MA from Columbia University, Teachers College.
Charlotte Terry, Vice PresidentCharlotte Terry was instrumental in the relocation of the Laura (Riding) Jackson home from the citrus grove to the campus of the Environmental Learning Center and has continued to serve on the Board of LRJF including ? years as President. Charlotte is also a founding member and President of the Board of the Indian River Literary Society and Haiti Partners and has served on the board of McKee Botanical Garden. A published writer, Charlotte grew up in Vero Beach and has had a real estate company, Charlotte Terry Real Estate for over 30 years. Charlotte receive her BA from Florida Atlantic University.
Rene VanDeVoorde, SecretaryRene VanDeVoorde, Secretary, was Laura (Riding) Jackson’s personal attorney. He set up the Literary Foundation which protected the writings of the poet. When Laura’s house was threatened with demolition, Rene and a few others formed the Laura (Riding) Jackson Home Preservation Foundation (later the Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation). He has served on the board of the Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation since its inception. Rene also served on the board of the Sebastian River Medical Center. Recently retired from the practice of law in Sebastian, FL, Rene received his MA and JD degrees from the University of Florida.
Susan Boyd, TreasurerSusan Boyd, Treasurer, worked in many areas of Finance and Logistics for NBC News, NBC Sports, and NBC Entertainment, posted in New York , London and Moscow. She has raised over a million dollars through grant writing and personal interactions. She also spent 12 Years teaching history at Sebastian Charter Middle School. Susan served on the board of the Pelican Island Audubon Society for seven years. She is a graduate of SUNY- Albany and holds a financial seminar certificate from Wharton School of Business.

Carrie AdamsCarrie Adams is a dedicated and enthusiastic educator of English Literature and this year designated as Teacher of the Year at Vero Beach High School. In addition to her obvious skill developing programs and teaching, Carrie brings additional experience in journalism and public relations through her work as in Public Relation at the Walter Thompson Museum of Art and the Brevard County Museum where she was Director. Carrie is a graduate of the Univ. of Central Florida.
Barbara GuilfordBarbara Guilford was a residential realtor for 25 years in Miami, Florida. As a volunteer she served as president of the Villagers in 1996-1997 – Dade County’s oldest historic preservation organization – , was a golden angel on Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Foundation Committees, a board member at Viscaya Museum and Gardens. She has also been a tutor of primary school children at Oceola Magnet School and Gifford Achievement Center.
John HiltonJohn Hilton, a native of Chicago, spent thirty years the book manufacturing industry where he was responsible for sales and distribution of ?academic titles. John holds a BA from the University of Arizona where he majored in History and Government.
Louise KennedyLouise Kennedy is the current Chair of the English Dept of St. Edward’s School where she received the Harriet Graves Beckley award for excellence in teaching. Louise earned a MA from Sewanee, The University of the South and is currently enrolled in a research PhD program at the University of St Andrew’s. Louise is certified as a Google Educator, levels 1 and 2.
Susan LovelaceSusan Lovelace recently retired as Coordinator of the International Baccalaureate Program at Sebastian River High School. She is also an examiner for World Literature for IB. Susan was recognized as Indian River County’s Teacher of the Year in 2001 and has served as a tutor/evaluator for the Florida Consortium of Colleges and Universities. Susan is an adjunct professor of English at Florida Institute of Technology (online). Susan holds an MA from the University of Central Florida.
Joanne S. MitchellJoanne and her husband James live in Coral Gables, Florida since the early 90’s. They have two children and six grandchildren.Joanne has been President of Property Professionals, Inc. since its inception in 1979, specializing in apartment and commercial property acquisition and development. Also, Joanne with her husband James operate a property management company specializing in multi-family management.

Sean SextonSean Sexton is the Poet Laureate of Indian River County. Sean was born in Indian River County and grew up on his family’s Treasure Hammock Ranch, where he serves as Trustee. He divides his time between taking care of a 600 acre cow-calf operation, painting, and writing. Sean is a published poet who reads at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, the Miami Book Fair International, and Other Words, Florida Literary Arts Coalition Conference. His books are Blood Writing, The Empty Tomb, and Waldo’s Mountain. Sean is a graduate of the University of Florida.
Julie WearyJulie Weary, a former copywriter for Sears, Roebuck & Company and freelance writer, Julie served as President and Programs’ Chair for Off Campus Writer’s Workshop (Winnetka, IL) the longest ongoing writer’s group in the country. A Pushcart Prize nominee, she won the Grand Prize in the 1997 Writer’s Digest Writing Competition, and received a Finalist Award in Prose from the Illinois Arts Council. Her work has appeared in the Chicago Tribune, The Christian Science Monitor, Writer’s Digest, Catholic Digest, North Shore, and Family Circle. She received her BA from University of Wisconsin, Madison and a MA in Fiction Writing from Bennington College.
